Very beautifully explained!! A reader or author should never stumble over the words that are meant to convey a message, and you have done an excellent job at explaining such a difficult philosophical matter. My personal perspective consists of the idea that “accepting your self” means being okay with the subject-matter of the pond changing (i am quite fond of the pond allegeration) and your shell consists of a collection of certain norms and values that is inherently part of you. If you follow that sense of moral code within you, you can truely love and appreciate and also rightfully criticise the subject-matter and its changing nature because you have a clear view of who you are and what is important to you. I am much open for discussion because my vision may very differ from one another and there is no clear “right or wrong” when it comes to matters like these. Our views are very parallel and i am proud of you for making this essay. Much love from your dear friend ultron<3
Thank you for the kind words! I really like how you put another element to the self-acceptance part with the “being okay that the water inside the pond changes” and embracing its changing nature. Your view on the idea gives me new things to think about so I appreciate you for your comment and that you took the time to write down your views! Much love from your friend, Essaystential
Nice work. It’s lovely to be on the other side of that selfhood—one of the few perks of growing older. I make changes in activities and habits, but I am happy
Hello! I saw the first couple words of your DM but I can't access the rest because of age verification laws in the UK (I'm quite hesitant in giving a copy of my passport to verify considering the possibility and frequency of data breaches) If you want to get in touch still I've put my discord/email in my bio - I'm interested in seeing what you said haha! Anyway, beautifully explained; honestly, I think social media has twisted the concept of self-improvement so your take was really refreshing to see and encapsulate how (I believe) self improvement should be approached holistically.
I’m glad you think that as well and thank you for the compliment! This is what I texted you: “Hi man I really like your restacks, saw that you were 16 year old as well so that we have in common. Lots of older people on this app haha”
I like your analogy. I struggled to like myself in my early years because all I could see were my faults, defined by others. After I spent some time in therapy (which, thankfully, was free at GSU when I was a student) helped me see that a lot of things people said was wrong with me weren't true. Now I can sit with the things I want to change while accepting myself where I am as I go about it. I can look back at the things I have changed over a long period, at 67, and I can see my progress. I couldn't do that until I was around 30. Time is the great healer.
Thanks for the article. I'm happy I discovered you today.
Your words truly warm my heart and I’m glad to hear you managed to accept yourself. I think the place where you’re in now is a very healthy place to be. At my young age I’m also wondering about the effects of time hahaha
Short, concise and quite understandable. The difference between the shell, and the things the shell contains. We are to love our shell and use that love to improve the content of our shell 🙂↕️

I get that haha, I’m curious how age changes us

Cats never serve a direct purpose….except whatever whim comes up

Thank you man. That reassures me, I wasn’t quite sure if it was understandable or if I could communicate the idea properly.
You communicated the idea properly. The analogy of a pond (or even a swimming pool), makes it clearer to imagine/illustrate.
Phew I’m glad! Are you working on something new at the moment?
Yeah. An article on Validation.
Ohh the cat was just for fun hahaha, it didn’t serve a direct purpose
