Critical thinking is crucial, but I think its application is severely hindered when the media institutions dictate public discourse, that makes it exceptionally difficult for us to independently assess the strengths and weaknesses of the issue.

which I also think the applicable proverb to your article is only dead fish go with the flow.

This is a very good thesis. Well thought out.

Thank you so much, I try my best. The conclusion I arrived on made most sense to me regarding an explanation for the phenomenon of “package deal ideologies”

Thank you Floris for sharing your interesting thoughts about this topic. What you are saying is very true, but indeed very difficult for people to practise outside the safety of their inner circle and even then..

Thank you very much, I agree you can diagnose the problem but finding a solution is very difficult

i really like your idea of how we offload our critical thinking skills to appease whatever will keep us in our 'tribes' at the dinner party. its very relevant to me and lots of social circles at my school here. i dont ever really get to hear people speak out openly about their controversial views, and but among the few times that i do, a number of them come from homeless people lol. very good stuff Floris!

Thank you so much and it’s reassuring that you encounter the same phenomenon too. Politics as social tool instead of a question that needs to be solved pragmatically is way too standardized I feel like.
