I love the humanities as well, and agree with this statement.

"Just because these subjects aren’t directly or measurably useful doesn’t mean that they’re of less worth than the exact sciences, they’re in a different category".

Many of the contributions of this domain of knowledge isn't tangible, but it as well isn't any less relevant. They provide the building blocks of society. Civilizations are built around cultures, art, philosophy, literature and ideologies. Ideologies drive change and revolution. Revolutions make history. History calls for reflection and demands us to do better.

Technology is a product of the natural sciences, but Society is a product of the humanities and social sciences.

Thanks for your comment and taking the time to read it, you wrote that beautifully, especially your conclusion. The exact sciences provide the resources, but the humanities dictate how our society is shaped.

Hello again! I wonder if you'd agree with me that the humanities are epitomized in the creation/writing of fiction, where the imagination reigns free and untrammeled, and the Goddess assumes sovereignty over tired, pedestrian materiality merely by showing up?
